Wow both of those are very cool. I had no idea Shortcuts could even scan barcodes. I don't buy physical books any more, but I wonder if I could get the same info from whatever Books.app provides in the share sheet for the bookstore? I&

Did you actually set up the phrase, or did you just try the phrase that the author was using? Open the settings for the Shortcut (the button in the upper-right) and "Add to Siri".

Shortcuts was the most exciting thing from the WWDC Keynote this year, but I still haven't really found a killer use for it yet. But I do have some simple ones, such as a Shortcut I use on an image that prompts me to rename it before t

Oh wow that's a clever shortcut. I didn't realize you could write shortcuts that execute JavaScript in the context of a Safari webpage.

You may be speaking to the HomePod, but the phone is the thing actually running the Shortcut. And the list of Shortcuts actions does not include controlling the music output of a HomePod. I would encourage you to file a bug report with Appl

Separating out the quality work from the garbage is different than setting out the work done in good faith from the work done in bad faith by people who are otherwise capable of producing good work.

All browsers on iOS must use the same WebKit rendering engine, and the error you quoted is quite rare in practice (I can't even remember the last time I saw it on iOS).

From the article, it sounds like Waymo's attempts at rewriting the patent were what introduced the physical impossibilities. Presumably the circuit from the original patent was physically possible.

I don't see why most code would have to be unsafe. Presumably some of it would, but that unsafe code can generally be wrapped up in a safe interface (this is practically the entire purpose of libstd).

All of these cases have a well-defined conflict resolution mechanism. All of these cases except for Google Docs explicitly have a way for the client to be notified that their requested change failed (I believe Google Docs just defines the e

Yes I know. Which is why I asked what happens if two Workers try to make incompatible changes at the same time. How does this library resolve conflicts when applying the changes from the fake DOM to the real one? In fact, this doesn't

If this is exposing DOM operations in a Worker and then replicating them back to the real DOM in the main thread, what happens if 2 Workers try to make incompatible changes to the DOM at the same time?

Where do you miss user-definable attributes from? I'm not aware of any analogous ObjC feature. The `where` keyword is also used when defining generic functions/types. As the expression level, it used to be used in `if` too, but th

Google has relatively few ways to actually give them money directly for software and media. There's Google Apps (assuming you aren't a grandfathered free customer from back when it was free), and I guess YouTube Red, and, um.... i

Compilers already have ABIs, they're just compiler-specific and not documented. If they didn't have an ABI, then you couldn't link 2 C++ libraries together. In terms of having one spec that handles arbitrary architectures, ma

A C++ ABI does not require an OS written in C++. It just requires all compiler implementations to agree to standardize on a single ABI and enshrine it in a spec that any future implementations must abide by.
