Cool, thanks again for your great post. Big fan of your articles. > The functional graph becomes more complicated Indeed. I once tried to come up with a "higher order function" that takes in a feedforward network and computes a

I really liked the mention of the "three narratives" of neural networks: 1) human brain 2) nonlinear "squashing and folding" of the input space 3) probabilistic / latent variables. Seeing different ways to look at s

The software engineering quality of FB's open source projects is simply amazing. I used to think that a lot of their projects were trying too much to re-invent the wheel, but now I see it as an uncompromising attitude towards having th

Actually, I'm pretty sure a lot of security professionals don't use Kali Linux because 1) they only need a subset of the pentest tools, 2) many companies' internal monitoring systems trigger alerts if they detect someone is u

It helps to be a student studying at an elite american university - pedigree opens a lot of doors, for better or worse. Also, I had a shit ton of luck with interviews and recommendations.

Yeah, one of my favorite reasons why I like Pixar films is that their central conflicts are inspired by some deep-seated adult fear: fear of being replaced or forgotten (TS1-TS3), of children growing up and leaving (Nemo), midlife crisis (I

All I had to compare Google to were my limited experiences in the other two. I thought Google was the most laid-back of the three. No doubt you've heard about dinner cafes opening late to keep employees at their desks, but the reality

This is pretty neat! However, Apple can bypass this by simply rejecting apps that bundle the AppHub framework, with the claim that apps whose feature updates bypasses app store approval present a security vulnerability. A more useful approa

I'd recommend a local custom build over EC2. EC2 GPU instances are virtualized via a Hypervisor, which dramatically reduces performance on multi-GPU networks. and this doesn't take into account the large amounts of disk space need
