Hey Mike, Good to hear from you! We also enjoyed working with Triplebyte, and still think that hiring/recruiting is a great use of EthicalAds. In general we've also found success with higher LTV SaaS products, and you might expect

Sure -- we have a post about just that topic! https://www.ethicalads.io/alternative-to-carbon-ads/ To be 100% honest, Carbon is a great product, and I do recommend them. I wish we were competing against only Google &am

I definitely appreciate the negative view of ads. I had some similar internal conflict around building on ads, but it was the only way for us to sustain the project we worked on.. Read the Docs was a huge part of the open source community,

Hi HN! We've been working on our ad network for a couple years, but we just launched the 1.0 of our open source code, so it seems like a great time to do a Show HN! We have more info on our 1.0 post here: https://www.ethical

Marketing is a hard skillset, and I think it's important for folks in engineering to respect it. I think it looks really easy when it's done well, but so many devs have OSS tools or products that they've worked on and can

This is a great post. Wonderful cheat sheet for lots of various writing areas in tech. There’s also lots of great content coming out of the Write the Docs community, including 10 years of conference talks: https://www.writethedoc

The learning curve for RST is generally higher because it does more. You'll notice that Markdown's learning curve goes up quite a bit as they add all the features that RST has. That said, RST has some bad design decisions, but I&#

Lots of people talking about how advertising is terrible in the comments here. Unfortunately, much of the internet is dependent on ads for revenue. I am personally working to improve the technology behind the ad ecosystem, so we can not wor

We just published this post, which covers a few things around how to tell if your site is sharing data with larger ad networks. It's often hard to tell, since the integration you normally setup is only with a third-party publisher, but

This has been our experience running an ad network that only does content-based targeting ( https://www.ethicalads.io/ ). As noted in the article, simple heuristics and topics are plenty to target ads, and provide great value

I don't believe carbon does the niche targeting quite as well, but definitely a similar concept. Historically they're allowed third-party JS and images in the ads, which we didn't want. I'm not sure if that's change
