There is no context to this picture, and a whole lot of assumptions. Let's add one potential context. Over 80 tornadoes hit the Midwest yesterday. (Reference: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking&

You've misunderstood. My point was that women seem to be in rare supply on Hacker News. I find myself often commenting on items as one of the "token women" in the community (token, n. "a thing serving as a visible or tan

As someone who, like the OP, is often on the other side of that conversation (I've helped startups raise seed funding and get into accelerators), here are a couple tips: 1) Be specific. Which investor do you want an intro to, and why?

I can't speak for YC but I can speak about Techstars--I was in the first Austin Techstars class, and our Demo Day was a week ago. I have had one successful tech company exit and had already raised a seed round for my current business w

To add another data point, I'm not on the YC list but I am part of the Techstars and 500 Startups lists, which are similar (I have several friends who went through YC and we've compared notes.) Surprisingly, the lists have similar

I'm not sure if you're trolling or you genuinely misread my comment--I'll assume the latter. LeadPages generates real revenue to the tune of >$3M/year and is funded by Foundry Group as well as other angels and VCs. It

There are several ways Amazon could have prevented this. I wrote this post to bring attention to ways in which buyers can scam legitimate sellers using Amazon's "A-to-Z Guarantee." 1) Amazon can (and should!) require sellers

Not just Dell. I have two ASUS PB278Q (27", 2560x1440) and they have the same problem. It so threw me when I got the first one that I ended up having to overnight a Mini Displayport->Displayport cable from Amazon Prime to drive it.

Check out the ASUS PB278Q. $549.00 on Amazon right now, 27", 2560x1440, 16:9 ratio. I upgraded from a HP LP2475w (24", 1920x1200) and it is a night and day difference. I now have two of the ASUS monitors (one at home and one at wo
