Fair point - again dependent on the property/neighborhood. I stayed in an AirBnB in Denver that was one of three cookie cutter buildings next to each other each on about 1/4 acre, built sometime in the last 5-10 years, all clearly

I'm really not sure how best to handle it. Uber has definitely gotten some grief for their total inability to be accessible to people in wheelchairs in NYC, when there are yellow cabs that are, but that criticism has largely fallen by

Oh dear. That reminds me of a story I saw here on HN at some point (might have been in the comments) about a dev team that didn't insist on any commit messages in their VCS, so everyone just put in a '.' to meet the requireme

Personally my typo rate has held pretty steady over the last decade, I don't think something like this would have any measurable effect on how well one types. My concern would be that the extra keystroke to confirm would ingrain the sk

Oh for sure. I've known plenty of people who've done relatively brief (~ 2mo) sublets completely against leases etc (of course NYC is still a bit of a Wild West as far as housing is concerned, particularly at the more affordable e

ADA compliance is a fair point, but at the same time, I've lived in completely legal to rent apartments in NYC that were absolutely not wheelchair accessible. All new buildings in NYC must have elevators/general wheel chair acce

If you, personally, were reasonably good about general computer hygiene, your odds of success in upgrading would go up considerably. The average computer user, however (sample size of the hundreds of people I interacted with during the year

Certainly. I honestly never even expected a Windows update to be guaranteed to succeed simply because the surface area for them to test is unimaginably large - the same was not true for Macs (at least once OS X got good), so when a Mac OS u

That's a cool little project, but it runs counter to almost every Windows upgrade I've ever performed. The natural bit rot of long running windows installations has always made a fresh install a much stronger guarantee of success

I'd also like to mention that it is extremely impressive that Apple was able to transparently swap out the filesystem, with no data loss, on millions of devices. I've not heard of anyone who had serious issues with the update. It
