One could argue that Facebook's hiring spree enabled them to scale and further handle large amounts of users and photos. Is this a total waste to society? Could the Arab spring have happened without such social tools? Is the world a bette

I had the Facebook app for Android before they split it into 3. The version just before the split was unstable for uploading photos. It was consistently crashing whenever I tried to upload a photo. I'm not sure what was the source of the

I would add onto this: there is a grey area between persistent constructive dissatisfaction and persistent destructive dissatisfaction. You can't really know when you're pushing yourself so hard that you'll burn out.

Your boss must be a good developer right? So he should be able to manually go through the code of 25 developers and know what changes are going to affect everything else. If that seems naive, stupid or obviously unreasonable, this is what

I was indeed choosing a conservative number so there wouldn't be much of a counterargument about the 10k value aspect. My point was mainly that 10k for a 6 month vested tech hire is something other tech companies pay to non employees.

What I learned earlier this year is that tech recruiters get paid a flat fee for their services, plus a percentage of the recruitee's salary after some vesting period, usually 6 months. From what I heard, that percentage was between 15-25

In that same vein: It was the company's responsibility (too) that there was no database backup when he wiped it. It will be the company's responsibility when the referred employee hears about this and has a diminished reputation of the comp

So to design a better controlled experiment, the OP should write a statistically significant number of emails (>100...maybe 1000+) without sending them. An app should perform a double-blind study by randomly choosing half those emails

I, too would like to see this form. It would provide a lot of guidance for my company. We're knee deep in the consequences of scope creep right now.

I have to say that I feel like Rails' ORM does a magnificent job of saving me time. Migrations allow me to write database changes that can be undone more easily. An ORM also seems to lower the amount of configuration it takes to get develo

But all the things available in a top-of-the-line smartphone were already available in a laptop. The only difference is that you don't need to pull it out of your backpack. It's just a small improvement if you're into that kind of thing.
