You do have to maintain features, fix security issues, refactor surfaces get smaller, even unused - bitrotting code generates at least some work.

Interesting, maybe for english speaking only. At least in my experience google has better results and I'm forced to !g often.

Python PyPi downloads are also tracked https://pypistats.org/ . The data is public, nothing wrong with that IMO.

You can do that, I render web components with python. Treat them as black-box custom HTML tags in your server side template.

flash, g, redirect, render_template, request, session etc. Ideally request would be passed to view callables and would not be global. That is completely incompatible change so we will never see that I guess :(

Sure, just be sure to avoid threadlocals and pass them around explicitly!

Send a PR to fix that, the devs will probably appreciate the help.

Yeah, but it only makes sense to do so on a page that already is using react. If you are using some other JS framework it will add 140kb dep on react+react-dom - which might be a problem (or not depending on your use case).

That's not what npm stats show. Rich is good at marketing though.

This is how HTML tags work currently. You are better off with something else if you want to sidestep this. At least for now.

That makes no sense, they are compatible with react, you just need to write more code to use them. https://custom-elements-everywhere.com/ I find it interesting that you blame WC not react devs for the fact they don't

I think you mean you can't have same element redeclared? Then yes this is still the case, and at least for now it will be - for any library that can output custom elements. Every component is a real interactable HTML element, imagine &

You can do that for preact, vue, svelte, angular and others. That should tell something.

And they all work together if you want. I see no problem here.

The link on HN is not a landing page. https://guacamole.apache.org/ - this is and it is very self explanatory to me. `Apache Guacamole is a clientless remote desktop gateway. It supports standard protocols like VNC, RDP, an

I just finished rewrite of big (400+K LOC) 10 year old pylons codebase to pyramid. We were able to share our models, services and 100% template code, and about 80% of view code was untouched. What you want to do is follow this recipe: http

You are correct, they are pretty low level. You want something like lit-element or stencil (or vue, svelte... etc) on top of them for a pleasant experience.

Why it still works, no need to refactor the code for the sake of refactoring if this is free work. Change to ES modules would be welcome though.

I'm using RhodeCode, and so far it has been working great for both git and mercurial repo hosting - paired with Concourse CI it makes for a great combo.
