ShareJS is a good example. However I don't think this is the right approach necessarily. The FireBase API is a lot simpler and in casual tests it's much faster too.

We desperately need a high quality open-source Firebase/Simperium/Spire. A simple, robust, realtime data synchronization layer with libraries for major platforms. These projects all look great, but outsourcing this infrastructure is simply

Implementing the Firebase API is nontrivial. It's an entire datastore with fine-grained monitoring and optimistic, distributed, data synchronization. Messaging falls automatically out of their API -- all you do is push child messages. An

Firebase has a much nicer API. It's organized around a realtime, ordered, tree datastore. This makes it much more akin to very granular database than a message bus. Spire is just an authentication service + channels. There is no state be

There is a real need for an open source clone of one of these realtime datastores. I'd lean towards Firebase since it has the best API I've seen so far. If anybody wants an open source sprint, I'd be willing to donate to such a project...

Doesn't seem huge. Most people pay for bandwidth. Standard web DOS attacks cost money too. Same thing with linking to S3. The fix is as it's always been, email your provider and explain the situation. Most likely they'll revert your usag

Is GPL really viable for a web framework? The Free Software Foundation has consistently held that linking to GPL code (not LGPL) is derived work.

Very cool, I've been waiting for this to happen. I'm surprised that Google doesn't explicitly talk more about this use case for Native Client. It could be the backbone for an AWS/Heroku competitor. The ability to run lightweight tasklets

Adopting Node's callback style seems like a very strange choice for C# where you have native async/await support.

Why is defer needed? Why can't I follow C# and do: result = await search("test") Is this just so that it plays nicely with non-standard callback APIs? I'd prefer to introduce Promises (i.e., q) and have await interact with that. I

I think you're missing the fact that textbooks are written by people. They don't magically appear. Writing a good textbook requires the passion of a single expert author, who must dedicate years of his or her life to write it. There are

It's really a replacement for R's data.frame. The emphasis is on convenience for data manipulation tasks on heterogeneous rectangular data. I don't think it's intended to be used as a database even if that's possible.

There are two parts: 1) what is an appropriate statistical model for A/B testing and 2) how should we make decisions based on our current beliefs (the Bayesian posterior). A sensible starting point for the first is a hierarchical beta-binom

I'm surprised that no JS template engines ever implement binding. It seems like everybody just ports some server-side ideas, even though there's a lot more that is possible client-side. Why do I need to rerender the entire template when m
