It is interesting to see what's happening around this pattern, so I won't be too sure that it was indeed a joke.

I found this post when searching HN for "key-value store" posts, because I'm working on my own and wanted to see what other people have done. Fwiw, your take on this is basically a generic blob storage that is (1) keyed by st

This has gotta be related to the Russia's recent demands to Nato on Ukraine and resulting negotiations [1]. They yield here, the counterpart yields there. REevil arrest is just a token of good will, probably in exchange for something.

Kinda puts 9 months needed to get to Mars into an interesting perspective. Is there a "fast fix" for treating anemia? Because if humans do get there and land on a surface, this will probably be required.

Asking who wrote this shit is useless. However asking " what is this shit" is a perfectly valid thing to do. There are good developers producing crap due to constraints. There are also other developers producing crap because th

Ooltered is the one I was referring to. It was twice as jarring, because they won't even recognize all-tered as a proper word at all. Had to literally spell it out.

Ask your nearest British person to pronounce "Altered", as in Altered Carbon. This is really something else.

Isn't explicit hardware support for SHA-3 rather limited? In particular, there's none on Intel and only A13 and A14 on Apple. It can still be vectorized to a degree on other CPUs, but in that case it'll be slower than Blake3.
856.
by eps 5y ago
Blake3 is faster because it allows for very efficient SIMD implementations. That alone blows all competition out of the water, with a single thread. The ability to further parallelize it on multiple cores is just a cherry on top.

I think Russia is commonly excluded from "Europe" simply because only a small part of it is in Europe and the rest is not. Bundling it in would've caused Europe overlap with Asia and that's just confusing.
