I had a microwave that upon finishing would show the message "GOOD". I guess it was a bad translation of "done". It also always had to beep three times at ear piercing volume, even if you opened the door after the first

Genuinely curious: how have you found TouchBar useful for development? I think you're the first dev I've seen say that.

What solutions are you talking about? Premium subscriptions / donations like Ars Technica and the Guardian use? Those are the only major online publishers I can think of that aren't monetizing via ads, paywalls, or both.

It's probably not the the default because it disables the scrolling behavior used everywhere else on iOS. The "Safari is IE6" meme was briefly valid a couple years ago, but they've done a much better job more recently. (

WWII was the last time the US "won" a war, so it gets more attention.

Does vacant mean "listed for rent but is not rented" or does it mean "could be lived in but is empty"? That could explain the difference in numbers.

Anecdotally, Apple ID auth on iOS/macOS has been a mess for me. Changing my password would result in multiple login prompts per device. Sometimes inputting the new password works, sometimes another prompt comes up after a few minutes.

A la carte might make sense if the pricing was more reasonable. I don't want to pay $2-3 per episode to own a TV series I'll never watch again.

Yeah, it's not an unprecedented situation. What's concerning is that we have this level of debt after a period of relative peace and stability. (Though I vaguely recall there being some expensive wars recently too.)

The US' national debt was 89% of GDP in 1950. Now it is 104%. [1] I somewhat agree with you (there was a long period in between when the debt-GDP % was much lower), but the current situation isn't as dire as you suggest. 1. https
