I just read the linked post and it seems like an interesting program. I couldn't help but notice though where he said it's an MA rather than an MS. Does anyone know how well regarded the program is? In other words, if a potential employer s

If you still want to slice up a document (or multiple documents) as many times as you need, just use vim w/ :split and :vsplit. Works like a charm!

I like the idea of Pagoda pulling from the github repository, but what happens if github is for any reason inaccessible and you need to make an update to your site? Is there a backup method?

I'm typically very good at getting along with people, but I suppose my reaction to an asshole depends on the type of assholery being committed. Take for example someone who is egotistical and condescending. I may not necessarily like that p

The translations themselves seem good enough from the handful that I tried, but the auto-detect feature has room for improvement. For ex, I typed in "ciao" (the Italian equivalent of hi/bye), but it auto-detected German and subsequently had

The interface is very clean, simple, and to the point. One suggestion though: It very quickly gives an "Invalid regular expression" error while I'm still typing. From the perspective of the regex parser that is certainly a correct assessmen

Actually the first GUIs from Xerox were on the Alto, which the Star is based on (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerox_Alto ). Although this is certainly from the first that was available commercially. Nonetheless, these screenshots are

I like the ideas of finding non-traditional ways to communicate with would-be employers. For ex, using Facebook pictures as the article mentions. Similarly, although perhaps not quite as creative, I like the idea of using submissions and me

It's a good idea in my opinion, although if possible I'd rather they be more aggressive with their time frame. By 2050 we may already have reached Peak Oil. If that happens we may not have enough left to run cars in the city anyway.

Advertisements don't necessarily have to devalue a product that's free to the end user. It depends on how and where those ads are displayed. Twitter is a good example of a product that could certainly use less obtrusive ad placement (i.e. n

My home firewall catches 20-25 failed login attempts per day, all of which seem to originate in China. I'm tempted to setup a honeypot that'll show a fake bash prompt just to see what gets thrown at it. Naturally I assume there is an elite
