There was an election in November 2024. The center–left candidate, Harris, lost. The reactionary–conservative candidate, Trump, won. Unlike many other countries, the President is both head of government and head of State in the US. The Pres

It is pointless to argue with you. All the relevant documents I should be able to link to have been purged from various Federal sites due to “DOGE” shenanigans. Congressional appropriations are how money is allocated, regardless of party in

If it’s a $100,000,000 contract then it was appropriated by Congress. Whether or not it’s “waste” is entirely irrelevant.

Pre–TSA each airport authority was responsible for security. In theory there was a common standard, in practice it varied greatly airport by airport and contractor by contractor. Am pulling this completely out of foggy memory but one of th

I block entire /8 and /16s from China on my personal sites. They were swamping my bandwidth requesting the same pages or images 1000s of times a day. Start by blocking the tencent and alibaba cloud networks and then work down what

This was the pre-Gerstner era of the “Baby Blues”: Lexmark, AdStar, Pennant, Eduquest, Advantis/ISSC, and some others I’ve forgotten. In the end IBM spun off Lexmark, Federal Systems (to Loral), AdStar never spun out but was the divisi

Out of paranoia I just checked and yeah, GoogleBot actual (and not the dozens of fakes) requested each 410'd URL at least once a month, some URLs get multiple requests per month. All have been marked 410 since 2014 or earlier.
