Keybase was really nice, until it started talking about wallets and coins and Stellar Lumens and no thank you. I jumped ship a while ago.

I’ve never used syncthing, when you say it “creates a conflict”, does that mean the same file copy mechanism as Dropbox?

If you edit a file on two devices at the same time, doesn’t Dropbox just create a copy of the file? Is that process what you’re referring to?

Something that really helped me with YouTube was installing the Unhook browser extension https://unhook.app/ Unhook can remove all 'suggested' videos. The home page will just be blank, and when watching a video, t

I generally try to reserve attributes for metadata. That is, data about the data contained in the tag.

Sure, that’s fair. You’re not wrong. But PRQL is meant to substitute for SQL, my argument here is keyword familiarity outweighs absolute linguistic precision.

This looks cool. I like SQL but I have to admit it’s often cumbersome. Something that came to mind after looking at some example queries is the mix of parentheses and square brackets. It’s not immediately obvious to me when I’d use which. A

My current pet peeve with a shifting UI is Visual Studio's Git Changes view, which adds status/response messages to the top of the view after performing some actions, shifting everything down by the height of the message.

I’ve learned a handful of languages over the years, it was fairly straightforward to reason about all the c-likes (java, php, js, c#, etc), and others (python, tcl). They all have quirks and unique pros/cons, but it was mostly a matter

Happy to hear they’re still touring. I agree you definitely should have seen them :D I was visiting NYC years ago and realized the day of my departure that Dave Brubeck was playing at the Blue Note. I regret not canceling my flight.

Along the same lines, I’ve wondered why gyms don’t hook up all their weight machines up to a big generator. Gym members would be paying the gym to reduce the gym’s electric bill.

Don’t sell yourself short, aside from some select Italian brands, motorcycles usually have wet clutches (clutch basket bathed in oil) and are quite forgiving compare to the usually dry clutch in cars.

Even on 2 wheels the automatic transmission is coming. Honda’s been perfecting a DCT for over a decade, and by some accounts it’s pretty sharp.

Saying the title could be "a bit clearer" is going too easy. The title is patently false. They did not approve a 4-day week at all.

I looked at Linear and it's very software-specific. The features page says it's "the new standard for modern software development". I do use Jira for software, but also for generic state tracking of non-software processe

Ok, it's slow, and navigation sucks, and lots of other things. Workflows are easy to get out of hand, but as long as you keep your workflows lean/tame/flexible, it's mostly "good enough". I suspect a sizable po

A bit off topic here, but can anyone identify which documentation tool this is? https://fresh.deno.dev/docs/getting-started/adding-interacti... It's very clean and simple, I like it.

Sounds like those businesses aren't viable, and should fail. In other words, if a business cannot be profitable _and_ pay it's staff a livable wage, then the answer is to make adjustments so it can do both, or close the business.

No problem! The real problem is "The Feed", the never ending infini-scroll. I don't think it's a coincidence that usually the item you're looking at in The Feed is shorter than the frame, so you can always see at le

What does it mean these days to be a “European website” (or a “Canadian website”, etc)? The server is located in Europe? The domain name is owned by a company registered in Europe? What if a CDN serves the site from another location? What i

As an aside, can I just say how refreshing this website is? It's 100% content, just text. Now view the html source, and be amazed. I daresay the author actually wrote the html by hand. I suppose it could be a very conservative and cons
