This abrasive comment from the author really put me off from the piece. Doesn't help that I first read berium's reddit post which disagrees [1]. He seems to be involved in build2 which has implemented support for Modules which g

I don't know about OP but you don't even need to go to the level of checked exceptions, with their pain. In Python, you are encouraged to follow Easier-to-Ask-Permission-than-Forgiveness and catch specific exceptions. Doing eithe

Agreed, particularly with packaging. In the past, I've created scripts that have not needed packaging. Packaging is what is making me fall out of love with Python, especially as I'm learning Rust and seeing how great it can be. T

Reboot is a good way to put it. I feel like Rust goes back to C and says "with what we've learned how should C do OOP". I'm excited about Rust. As a 15+ year C++ developer.

Thanks for your work > I'd like to wait for some of the unsafe semantics stuff to be pinned down so that I can go in full depth when I write this. Thats the work I was thinking of.

I suspect removing unsafe is outside of the scope of Rust. Rust tries to help you as much as possible but recognizes that it sometimes gets in the way and provides an escape hatch. The idea is to minimize and abstract the use of the escape

While Conan still has some room to grow, I love the approach they take to package management for C++. Too many C++ tools couple package management and build which increases their adoption cost and makes it more work to package third part pa
