This gives nostalgia vibes of the 4chan from 10-ish years ago. Back then “memes” were fringe, but 9gag slowly took over with washed down normie memes.

Does anyone find Lisp readable? I haven't used Lisp professionally, but find the code terribly confusing to read (mostly due to the look of it, I assume), while I can usually follow code of an unknown language reasonably well.

For those curious, this is one screenshot I took of the UI that night: https://ibb.co/wzV8fQQ I fully expect sober and patient people to defend this UI, but it was utterly confusing at the time (and as a consequence sadly h

I remember being stoned out of my mind, trying to grab an Uber back home. I realized how terrible the Uber UI is. There's a shitton of confusing information and buttons competing for attention, all at an equally ambiguous grayish ton

Thankfully, if there's any large company on Earth that really cares about perfecting UX, it's Apple.

Honestly I’m so happy there’s a “mainstream” place on the Internet where people use the terms retarded and autistic affectionately. It feels like a breath of fresh air next to the language police of everywhere else.

The fact that you have to say "r-word" instead of "retarded" is embarrassing.

How long will people endure the censorship? Is it just me or am I seeing more subtle revolt against this persistent, opaque censorship on the Internet? I'm trying to stay down-to-Earth, but it honestly seems to be getting out of contro

What's the TL;DR? Who is this? Why are they important? Why would NYT write about them? And threaten them? Sorry there's just so much text I don't have time to read through it all, but I'm curious!

This sort of humor was/is very common on 4chan and similar imageboards such as Krautchan.

I'm surprised seeing these sort of comments on HN. Implying Republican == fascist is the exact type of thinking this world doesn't need, and prevents any kind of nuanced discussion.

I have to admit it's a shame there's no dark mode. Browsing HN in the bed at night feels like staring at the sun (yes I use Night Shift and lowest brightness).

Is it just me, or do some people have a fetish for catastrophe? Greatly overestimating security impacts, the impacts of COVID, aggressive "new normal" lockdown proponents, militant preppers, etc. Paradoxically, I think some might

I'm sad and disappointed at the response. This further increases the divide and makes it harder for us to have any non-extremist (whether left or right) and nuanced discussions.

I also find the weather example a bit funny. "Remember kids, if you want to ask for weather, don't forget to send the API key from the previous step in an HTTP header named x-rapidapi-key!"

How would you design the error handling? Personally I'm glad Go has stayed out of exceptions (panics don't count), at scale it's so much easier to reason about flow.

I think this is much more common and crucial for success than we admit. Aesthetics have a very real impact on customers and observers, but we like to pretend it’s not that important.

I don't think there's any genre of music that gets even close to the potential expressivity and depth of hip-hop. It's words on sick beats. And there are some amazing wordsmiths out there. RIP MF DOOM
