Robocalls and support scams only really arrived with a vengeance last year in Ireland. Even still I would answer and call back pretty much every call from an Irish caller id today. I reckon at least 19/20 calls are legit... I suppose

Yep, all cow milk in Ireland is grass fed, they don't even bother putting it on the label as it's assumed... Just wish pork and chicken were the same story... (They're not free range as a rule here)

FWIW, this is not even remotely true in Europe. People use debit cards day to day, more likely to use a credit card if they don't have enough in the bank I suspect. At least where I am, there isn't much to be had in terms of point

Just installed Fedora 34 on a new Lenovo AIO for my elderly parents. It took a max 5 minutes of attention from me (maybe 30 minutes elapsed?), including making the USB boot disk. Everything worked on first boot. Everything. Also note that t

Hi Julia @jkurnia, quick question on the credit card integration. I just made two one off payments on your platform, and the second time I was not prompted for any CVV / CVC. Are you storing the CVV and is that safe? Also, there was no

I made more money per month as a 17 yo at the end of the dotcom boom than I did the decade after... But back to the advice: don't sell your house... Get a less demanding job, even 4 days a week, and side hustle the project. Also consid

Also, as a general aside to web devs, if we need captchas, can we at least use something less obnoxious and more privacy friendly, like: https://friendlycaptcha.com/ I put this on my signup form and have had zero spam since

I think the idea that work should always be engaging and meaningful is a harmful fallacy that is setting young people up for failure. Even the greatest rock-star or sports celebrity spends the majority of their time doing hard, repetitive o

I am no cheerleader for Ryanair... But most of your arguments don't really hold. 1. What's wrong with recycled seats? If you live in a city you are drinking recycled water. 2. Comparing a trans-atlantic flight to a short-haul one

Blaming Ryanair for getting hijacked? That is harsh. Personally, besides the dark patterns during booking, I find little functional difference between Ryanair and the likes of Aer lingus when traveling . The difference being air travel is h

My ISP is subject to GDPR, has an office down the road, I know people who work there, and is answerable to the Data Protection Commissioner. They have a customer service department that answers my calls in person within 30 minutes tops. So

My email client / provider leaked only DNS prefetch... nothing else... Before I even opened the message! I reckon it was my provider, as the IP address reported was wrong for me.

Nope, maybe a 2% drop in prices from the peak, rent still crazy expensive and not falling, once the government remove rent freezes, it will go up again. Anecdotally a few non Irish techies are leaving but it won't be enough to affect h

1 is not strictly true. A nation harbouring actors like this has a duty to intervene or they could be deemed responsible. For anyone with time on their hands, the "Talinn Manual" has a lot of detail on this: https://www

No argument here... my comment was more to say that meat-free burgers can be a success even in a country that has a high opinion of beef... This is a positive development IMHO. If you told Irish people 10 years ago that their local chipper

I don't think it's fair to put Ireland in the same category as the USA here: 1. Zero ads for prescription medication anywhere 2. Medical card for everyone on low income covering everything 3. Never pay more than EUR114/month
