Maybe something like a union of struct type T and interface type I, but T also satisfies I. Then you have to specify some extra things / add features to keep it symmetric and being able to construct it both ways equally easily. GO Auth

Type deduction from right hand side expression is enough and that was stated in FAQ that they didn't want HM inference. Edit: well not in FAQ but somewhere else. IIRC Rob Pike.

C++ as it is written can be arbitrarily slower and may have hidden bottlenecks due to copy constructors and poorly thought out Stl usage. But C++ fanboys refuse to admit this.

They gave the reason for not including tagged unions that they overlap in confusing ways with interfaces. Not that the reasoning is correct or not. It was their goal to make the language dead simple. Now with the new generics proposal, it s

Maybe, Idk who that appeals to.. But Go lacks the even most trivial of array / slice manipulation functions. Is this loop an index() or apply() or filter() or count() or sum() or wutt? Don't even talk about generic data structures

That's not what they are asking for. Well there is epsilon GC but rather than writing java that doesn't allocate, I'd rather write C++ or Go. This is the problem with Java ecosystem. Horribly reinventing simpler things in com

This point has to be noted. There are languages other than Go with optimizing compilers, and those compiling to C. Go has focus on fast compiles and doesn't do much optimization. And no generics means many things are done using reflect

If rampant reflection becomes a taboo because of native compilation, that would be great.

True. But rust's aim (at least as its original author envisioned) is for low level systems programming where having automatic memory management is not desired. The aim of safety in low level programming is nice, but that comes with tra

Zig is mainly focused on low level programming - every function that allocates takes an allocator argument, there are lot of builtin functions to do low level bit twiddling, doesn't hide any control flow, etc.. Nim is mainly a producti

In India, you don't ask elders "why?" for anything they tell you to do, that's considered disrespect - whether it is parents or teachers. That's why many customs that made sense once upon a time, have morphed into m

My small problem with gitlab is that the website is slow and heavy JS, especially having to use it on mobile (expectable that you can respond in issue trackers from mobile). GitHub is comparatively faster and less cluttered UI. I know this

To be honest, for some of them it is a matter of 'preserving culture' and I don't think they would accept a 'higher' caste one either. That said, it may be different in other parts of India.
