The moment a service linked Linkedin or Facebook tries to connect to your Google or Yahoo account, there should be a big glaring red pop-up listing the horrors in store ... and how some of the damage is irreversible. It'll haunt you fo

Good to know, thanks. Any recommendation for a good read on security best practices for a python/django app?

Please read the comment again, I think you interpreted it incorrectly. I'm saying, lots of people are forced to appear for IIT/IIM due to peer/parental pressure but they are clearly not even close to prepared for it. This isn

Github uses ruby on rails, which is a pretty mature framework, perhaps covering most of the common security pitfalls. Additionally, I assume github has excellent programmers because of the nature of their job. Could someone explain in simpl

A caveat : The pool of IIM or IIT aspirants is a very low signal to noise ratio. It's not just that they are hard to get into, it's the number of people who aren't prepared for it but still pony up the entrance fee. I'm

I agree. I think the next phase of evolution should involve transcending international boundaries and working as a planet rather than as a nation.

I bought the 1.5 version and I consider it a technically well written book. However, I have a hard time wrapping my head around the examples (too ice-cream centric) In my opinion, it's better to take generic models that represent a rea

I've wondered, but too lazy to calculate that how much electricity could be generated by machines in gym. Probably not a lot, but the whole idea of a green gym could encourage people to work out more. Edit : Google search shows some in

Instead of running washing machines on electricity and then running on electric powered machines in gym, how about manually cycling a washing machine like this. You hit 2 birds with one stone. Granted it's not practical in every househ

This is precisely the reason I couldn't force myself to use Git. The UI of Mercurial is so much more consistent and intuitive. I find it easier for non-technical people in the company to share files.

I like BitBucket because I like & use Hg. After playing around with both Git & Hg & comparing their merits, I decided, it was Hg for me. What's with all the hate on the author's part?

There's an advantage for the end user if the layout of the sites is similar - Intuitive browsing. Imagine if each email service provider re-invented the layout of mailbox !

How exactly does it (BitTorr..) sync data between my mobile & my laptop? If I have 100 Gigabytes of pics on my laptop. Will it attempt to copy it on my phone or does it cache a small portion? Does that need internet connection or will a

I'd love to use a jQuery 'lite' version, just for the convenience and brevity of expressions. Some of it should be baked into javascript.

It has a lot of value for brands like Nike, Nokia, Netflix, Nordstrom... Or a News channel - @N is very attractive to advertise. I don't see any trouble selling it for more than that.

Can't you sue paypal or godaddy ? Or better yet, both. Shouldn't be hard to track down the attacker either if you report the crime.

42 coins/day ? Why mine at all? You'll probably spend more on electricity. If you must have the coins in anticipation of their rise, just buy thousands for them for a few dollars.

Multiply those 15 minutes by the number of altcoins popping up every week. Then add the time spent in looking for altcoins early on. There are several who'd like to jump on it from day 1. They make their living by selling them on ebay.

Youtube would have died by itself. Or imagine what Yahoo would have done to it post acquisition. I know Apple would have called at iTube & put a price tag of $0.99 on all decent ones :)
