I don’t understand why you put PS2 as part of an era of synchronous rendering. It’s the epitome of asynchronicity: it exposes multiple DMA channels to send data and commands to the vector units and the GPU and good use of that parallelism w

One way to think about it is that the global average temperature is the average of winter and summer times in the whole earth. So an increase of a few degrees is not what you will experience, which is the local weather.

I don’t understand? Why not make the memory representation sympathetic with the operations you’re going to do on it? It’s the raison d’être of computers to compute and to do it fast. Another example: memory representation of pixels in GPUs

When building programs with user interfaces*, there are parts that _cannot_ be tested formally with either types or automated tests, because they require a human to test how things "feel." In that context, long compile times lengt

Is that true? Is it still true if you take into account that the CO2 emissions are maybe emitted say in China, to produce the goods of those supposedly virtuous countries?

That is actually the scariest thing about CO2. It's going to stay in our atmosphere for 100 of years. So even just stopping emitting is just about maintaining the status quo. Once the crisis becomes really bad, we don't have any m
