Well yeah; if you modify the OS, compile it and load it on your phone, you can't expect Google (or any other company) to support it for free.

G1 is a T-Mobile trademark. These phones are from Google and HTC, so they can't use the G1 name.

Clean code is easier to understand, maintain and keep working. Dirty code is harder to change and eventually gets thrown out and rewritten.

This is anecdotal, but I found out about imeem through their android app. I know Pandora has gained a lot of users through their iPhone app too.

The author claims this quote has something to do with 20% time, but the quote says nothing about 20% time.

Actually, I think the article you link to is ripping off this article. Both are pure garbage though, so it's hard to tell :)

This article and the articles it links to are garbage. They are one-hundred percent speculation and rumor-mongering. Please go back to ValleyWag.

The "old" theme is called "classic". Did you read the article?

Switching the default theme makes people notice the change. They're then much more likely to find out about and use custom themes.

The way Obama is using the web could be a powerful trend. Does anyone else smell an opportunity for start-ups?

Sometimes you have to upset someone to do the right thing. I'm sure slave owners were upset when we abolished slavery, but we did it anyway because it was the right thing to do.

I meant no offense. The work does appear to be interesting, but not for the reason indicated in this post's title.

Plop appears to be part of a Google-summer-of-code project. I don't think that makes it a Google product/project. It just means Google paid a student to work on an open source project. That student appears to have written some of that code

I don't see how that would work. 1) The G1's camera and screen face different directions. 2) The G1 (and the iPhone) don't support video capture.

Murdered? Certain death? Maybe you know something I don't, but I don't think they impose the death penalty for not paying taxes. In any case, paying taxes and not voting seems to be an ineffective strategy. What's your end game?

So get off your ass and participate. If you're so smart help 4 or 5 people understand the issues. Encourage your friends and family to read, learn and think about the issues before voting. Don't just throw up your hands and say the syste

Those bastards! How dare they communicate with their customers! They have no right to try to persuade anyone that despite the downturn, they are still investing in their product and trying to improve ad effectiveness. Don't be evil indeed

It's been said many times before, but beating the iPhone isn't the point. Google wants more people using phones with good web capabilities. Android is trying to beat what most people have; crappy phones that can't access the web very well
