I'm skeptical we should ban all operating systems which permit this without an interactive age check. Shouldn't the free market acolytes be arguing that parents can choose between competitors which offer ever-improving parental co

No, it makes sense for an App Store to do that. Or, that HTTP headers are set at the device or network proxy. User account creation wizards could just create the dot files for the App Store. These weird laws ban OS.

I’ve heard Android is a more common OS. In any case, if your OS fails to ask a user their age, it’s banned.

I don’t care if it’s part of the user setup, but make it an App Store dotfile. Don’t issue fines to Debian for offering a Docker image without a user setup script.

Echo in that case prints command lines before executing them. Its analog is `set -x` rather than `echo`.

I think it exists, as an umbrella group. It might only be 3 weeks old. But it seems preoccupied with minors accessing online pharmacies. Very preoccupied with that.

The point is that fascination is unrelated to value. I’d even argue that attention is unrelated to rationality. But attention is certainly related to profit.

Since there are no exceptions, I’m not sure if a judge will ask those. One judge might look at an appliance with no screen or input and “nope” it quickly. Another might decide that these OS designers should show more caution. And just becau

The GP comment mentions policy. I think you’re downvoted for trying to grow the scope to include all of Trump’s poems, homilies, and philosophical musings.

Thank you. It seems a common human experience to me that we’re all updating our inexact-but-useful view of the world. And every now and then I encounter someone who isn’t. Or, someone public who in private is contrastingly reflective compar

Trump’s shame, I wonder, might be more rare than the garden variety. Nothing seemed to endear him to Manhattan elites. Not the pro wrestling or bragging like an 80s rapper. I wonder how that important internalized shame could change. There

I want to point out that one of those writers also wrote For All Mankind . Maybe Gen-X never expected to be culturally relevant, so our critical thinking actually got put to good use.

In an alternate universe, Kamala Harris might be in Iran now. But her choice of SECDEF would be competent. No less than 1M Americans are more qualified than Hegseth; for the first time, I think.

I expect a smart toaster could have a legally-compliant rump Toaster App Store which simply echo “I am a toaster” regardless of user age policy. F-Droid is more abusable, unfortunately.

For example, if GE assumes some risk and issues an OS update, then the oven will ask the users age. GE would at that point be capable of limiting functionality based on age. But the bill is not enforced against GE, but the OS maintainer.

I didn’t see it as mysterious. 25 years ago, the problem as stated went through lots of consensus to become IPv6. It took a few years for SLAAC to emerge. But we don’t need it to be homogeneous; the router advertises different feature level

I’m leaning that way, too. Achieving this ought to require a few conference calls between App Store principals. Flatpak and Snap? Sure. The protest and compliance disobedience would be unreasonable over a boring standards body, not a law wh
