If software is a growing industry and other industries are shrinking, it seems it would make the most sense that the unemployed learn to program.

I don't disagree, but I'm concerned that we're just recreating the Mac / Windows / Linux issue, in gadget form. The current form may sway towards Apple, as the previous did Windows, but it's still the same problem. The nice thing about the

More screens also means less switching things around - at least it did for me. With three screens, I almost never switched windows around. With two larger screens, I find myself moving, resizing, and alt+tabbing all the time (or expose'in

I take some issue with this argument. Not necessarily to say that it's false, just to say that it's not a strong argument or at the very least holds little foresight. As an example I recently downloaded Words With Friends on the Android, b

I've done this on a couple well-visited client sites and it worked incredibly well. The best part is that it's super easy to add an invisible "email" field to a form and check if it has any content on the backend. By far the best bang for

I don't think resolution is quite as important as context, or rather the ease that lies within multiple monitors for switching context. I recently switched from three 19" monitors to two 27" monitors (I'm a php / javascript / python develop

It seems to me that you might be missing the close-tab button on your browser, which is the perfect way to vote against a project you would rather not support. I could easily see the contract price for a game like this going well above $18k

I personally prefer NOT to use Primary Keys in URLs for this exact reason. At the very least you can generate unique and difficult to guess keys that correspond to those IDs. A record ID (user id for example) has no use outside of databas

I'd venture in the opposite direction as an experiment. Make all posts temporarily anonymous until the thread is closed or less popular. Allow the discussion to exist ONLY according to the merits of the content. Then maybe after a thread

A lot of grandiose claims in hopes of the death of Flash around here. As though Flash has never done anything good for anyone. I agree that it's nice that the browsers are now supporting new features that allow so much well needed function

While I agree with treating drug abuse as a health issue - and Especially not a matter of law enforcement, I'm not sure it directly addresses homelessness. Drugs tend to be an escape, as are addictions to said escape. Most people I've kno

Similar issues, although in my case 2 monitors work immediately (dual DV-I card), it's getting my 3rd monitor running simultaneously which has left me in xorg.conf hell for 2 days without much to show for it, besides a few more gray hairs.

Agreed, although I don't think I've actually looked through my spam folder in at least a couple years. GMail's filters are pretty damned good. If an email didn't make it through, I consider it the same as the old "lost in the mail."

Just to clarify, are your referring to a specific group of people as "everyone" or do you actually feel that every human being should know these things? If the latter, what purpose does knowing what RAM, storage and the CPU have for anyone
