I used a hybrid approach with mint and spreadsheets. Not a huge fan of mint, but I have about a decade of history in there. The UI is awful but every transaction continues to show up. So I export all to a spreadsheet every so often and ma

In theory, I agree with the parent post and the sibling reply. If I didn't ask for email, then it doesn't belong in my inbox. In practice, I do what you do - unsubscribe and delete. If I get any more mail after that... When I g

I've had to work with the IRS in two separate instances in my life and both times they were helpful, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure matters were resolved properly.

Fair enough. I have as well, but it's never gone uncorrected once I speak up. Even in cheap places that I've ordered delivery from leaning more towards the speed and convenience than quality, they tend to fix their mistakes when

In my own life this hasn't been much of an issue. I wake around 5pm, so if there are evening plans, that tends to be my morning plans. Of course, this means I end up having a fancy dinner with friends for breakfast at times, but that

This is one of the primary reasons I've been a remote worker for the vast majority of my working life. I prefer working nights, to the point when I almost can't be truly productive during the day.

When I first got a Google home, the keep integration was built in. And then they moved it to Google Express shopping list, suddenly, which was infuriating. Ended up using ifttt with Asana. Will try with keep as I preferred keep for share

It can definitely read recipes, although I've only ever had it read me recipes I've found by voice. I don't know how to explicitly tell it the recipe I want. It's still kind of cool as it goes step by step, although th

I don't like Kerouac at all and found "On The Road" to be a poorly written bore, but that's a pretty broad stroke to paint by someone who likely has a lot of reason to paint it grotesquely.

Hunter Thompson has said it a few times in print, though I don't know exactly where. I've definitely read it in at least one of his letters. I first found the quote in a video of him at a podium answering questions for college s

From my own history, I know there is plenty of romance to be found within the more sordid sides of life. Not for everyone, to be sure. I've always related to Buk's writing for his ability to find beauty (and humanity) in the ugl

To call anything written by Bukowski "glamorous" is ridiculous. This article seems intentionally obtuse.

I didn't know this was an issue. After some research, I found that this is correct and not only do they not allow it but it seems they've shut accounts without contacting the account holders first. Appreciate the heads up.

There's not much going on in this post, so I assume the overall high rating is due to SQL being so damned fantastic. I commented to a friend the other day that my favorite thing to do on any project is project-wide query optimization.
