You do realise that the overwhelming majority (99%) of HTTP traffic is transferred to or from large companies like Google and Facebook? If it benefits their clients, then it benefits most of the web. HTTP/2 is particularly beneficial f

Check this out https://http2.golang.org/gophertiles and tell me that HTTP isn't the bottleneck, especially for high-latency connections. This is going to make the web so much faster.

Pretty much everyone in the industry is on-board with HTTP/2. It's not just Google.

Whatever PHK wants it to be, HTTP/2 is a great step forward from where we are today. Check this out: https://http2.golang.org/gophertiles This is going to make the web so much faster, particular on mobile devices.

Yes, new mapreduces are written every day.

Ian Lance Taylor wrote the article; he's one of the best C++ programmers I know. So I imagine he is speaking to _some_ subset of C++ programmers, just maybe not the one you belong to.

While I appreciate the energy put into this, I'm not a fan. I'm generally wary of tutorials that use examples that don't look like real programs. To me, this looks like a great idea from Ruby that has been shoe-horned into Go

It's in the documentation for the Format method, which is where I'd expect to find it: http://golang.org/pkg/time/#Time.Format That it's in order is an intentional mnemonic. I'm not sure why th

The alternative is not putting them down, but rather to stop breeding them. Also "occasionally left home to chill" does not describe a typical domestic dog's life. More like "left at home all day, five days a week."

Certainly, yes. Most people don't treat their pets properly. If you have a dog you should have it with you all the time; they're pack animals and get anxious and neurotic when left alone. This means there are very few lifestyles t
