A good debugger that shows the registers and flags, inspect memory and single step instructions is also a must when you're starting out. I spent many an hour staring at STmon on my atari ST.

My major takeaway from this: 1. Big cities are really boring! 2. Street level has more going on, but some people have to live with quite a lot of noise, higher up is quieter. 3. The world is a much windier place than I realised. Great idea

Stop producing plastic bags and go back to selling soft drinks in refundable glass bottles would probably make a big dent. The extra energy needed for glass production and transportation of heavier glass bottles would have to be factored in

I loved Firewire too, I can still remember the jaw dropping speed (at the time) that it copied music to my iPod.

Great place to store meta data about a file, never thought about that before. I guess if the download stream is interrupted it reads that to know where to pick up again if resumed? Another obscure feature of NTFS is Transactional NTFS which

Switzerland is pretty clean, and it's largely due to the Swiss culture, and the fact that there's plenty of bins which are regularly cleaned and emptied. However There's one class of people who believe that it's their Go

If you wanted to see an OS that really was way ahead of the curve then NeXT Step was it. By mid 1993 it was already on the 3rd version (running on a Motorola 68040 no less) and was already doing everything that NT could. I really love watch

Just wanted to say I find Notepad++ to be an excellent tabbed editor, especially for XML or SQL. I use it on windows all the time and really miss it on OS X where I find Textmate to be a bit awkward.
