The cab didn't have a till, it was most definitely illegal but not because of the credit card. It was almost for sure an unlicensed cab...

I think our wires got crossed here. I'm arguing against the idea that we should change the name to civil unions and make it legal, as opposed to just legalizing equal "marriage".

But if all we're doing is just changing the name.. then who really cares? Marriage isn't historically a religious institution, it's a civil one.

After I had my home broken into the guy taking fingerprints explained to me that fingerprints don't really work like that. You're lucky to pull one single print out of an entire house, regardless of how careful a burglar was. So I

There are some very tricky legal issues for companies when employees start selling on the private market. I will admit that I'm not terribly well versed on them, but IIRC these private sales essentially forced Facebook into an IPO that

I believe Apple Maps now crushes GM in terms of usage Out of genuine curiosity, any source for that? Do you mean crushes Google Maps on Apple phones? Or overall?

That's the whole point of the article tho isn't? Terms matter. Terms similar to those do exist btw. Investors who aren't going to be able to wrangle board control often attempt to control their money using absurd up-front str

They did exactly the same sort of thing with Jobs running things. You can find hundreds of examples. This sort of thing is business as usual at Apple.

In a business on-time and on budget are pretty damn important. I'd argue for most software disciplines (note: I didn't say all), probably more important than technical quality.

On what planet is shutting down a service, with months and months of notice, evil? I get it, we all hate Google on HN (for reasons unclear to me) but this is ridiculous. If these projects are truly important than donate some time and move t
