But all of this stuff simply can't end up in Java, because of backwards compatibility. For example, kotlin object references are non null by default. That is not something Java can easily bolt on. I think there should be many such feat

IntelliJ Ultimate has a lot of extra features, yes, but I don't recall any of them being related to Kotlin, or Android, so I don't think the parent comment claiming kotlin usage will result in extra revenue is relevant.

Any place which has internal tooling tightly coupled to Eclipse, and isn't willing to or has not gotten to develop the same for IntelliJ.

I don't think Jetbrains gets any money directly by the usage of Kotlin on Android, as Kotlin too is open source, and works very well in IntelliJ Community (also open-source). In fact, I don't think IntelliJ ultimate has any extra

I think android studio uses the community (open source) version of IntelliJ Idea, so it should not be a big part of Jetbrains revenue.

Jetbrains products are awesome though. I used to use a heavily customized vim which was a pretty good setup, but the things a jetbrains ide can do are just much better than what my custom setup could do. I pay for a personal subscription an

Correct. People think that stuff like iPhone can just be created, if there is enough will and innovation. The iPhone is the most successful consumer electronics product of all time, and might also be the most profitable product on an yearly

The examples given are full of intentionally created boilerplate. Anyone writing such production code in java has no java experience for sure. For example, the aws sdk for dynamo db contains DynamoDBMapper, which will convert dynamoDBItem t

But hadn't it grown more in the preceding 5 years than in the 4 years headed by Sundar. Looking at the share price, it seems it has roughly doubled every 5 years since 2005.

Eric Schmidt had step down long before that, and Larry Page was the CEO. In 2015, Alphabet was formed and Page became the CEO of Alphabet, leaving Sundar as the CEO of Google.

Aurora RDS is a meta product name though, you can't use it without specifying the engine, MySQL or PostgreSQL. What you are saying would be more like adding a postgres frontend to mysql.
