Setup was free when transferring from Rogers cable, I just had to buy a cable modem which I bought from Canada Computers. Teksavvy has never been to my house, it was just a phone call to set up the cable modem.

If you're talking about the recent long gun registry, Canada has always had much stricter gun legislation than the U.S. This website gives a walk through of the process required to legally obtain a gun in Canada: http://www.howtogetagun.ca

I don't know that the homicide rate is because of gun control. I don't think it is possible to directly come to that conclusion given the other societal factors. But it's an interesting data point. This article tries to dissuade that contro

If you find that staggering, then absolutely avoid looking at Japan homicide stats. Japan is 0.4 per 100,000. Japan has had the strictest gun control in the world for the longest time, and has a homicide rate to match. http://en.wikipedia.

Here's an ars technica article going into details about why "STFU and buy an SD card" isn't necessarily a solution. "As such, even the 16GB that Microsoft promises on the 32GB Surface may not be readily available to end-users. Surface does,

Ripped from a source you have legal access is undetectable in most cases. Downloading a copy over the net that someone else ripped can be detectable. That being said, I agree that piracy is just piracy. In my mind grabbing something from bi

I switched to teksavvy and it's great. It was twice as fast a Rogers and cheaper. I routinely use about 250GB/month on teksavvy. I had a lot of problems with quota when I was on Rogers because my VPN connection to work could use up 30G/mont

FYI, Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim have mods that will save every 5 minutes, and this helps with the crash on autosave problem. At the very least you'll never lose hours of playing. The mods use a rotating save system so you end up with 5

If the 7am-noon trend is caused by the social factor of EST to PST working coming in to work, it'll likely be mon-fri, with spikes on mon and thu. That is the usual pattern for sites that people check when they come in to work.

One trick I've always tried to maintain is daily releases, namely that I'll always check in code at the end of the day so that it can run in the smoke tests overnight. Running stats on our version control, I do about 4000 checkins a year, t

This is the same B.S. that happened with the Xbox 360 hard drives. In 2006 Microsoft sold a 20GB hard drive for $120 (which could have bought at least a non-branded 100 GB hard drive) When you used it with the 360, the hard drive would only

So much of it has to do with where the economy is. Looking for a job in 2000 vs 2001 was a change in what you could demand as a salary. Same in 2008 vs 2009.
