Well you could choose to work at a company that doesn’t treat human beings like money machines? Or you could choose to not lie to yourself about said humans as money machines ideals with classic tropes like “there’s a lot of different teams

Yes OP there's an underlying reason to explain it. Without dealing with it, you never solve the problem

I used to work in finance. People don't like finance because 99% of the time if there's a relationship involved we wouldn't have to compete on price. It would be obvious if someone's shopping around a loan, to the extent

I think most of the meaning here isn't found in a design document

Nothing hit quite as hard as the punch to the gut from the bit about linting and unit testing... spot on. I've already decided to move on and such, but my current company is so this that it hurts.

Opinions differ quite a bit outside North America. Therapy is better than drugs for long-term outcomes

That's naive to think it would change anything. The investors certainly don't want to know and the police don't care. At least in USA

> employees can and do get held accountable at criminal levels (and that is also possible at this point) What? American employees never get held accountable for white collar crime in startups Every startup I was a part of in America was

I don't disagree. Building around 10x'ers in this way creates god complexes and unhappy "senior" engineers (since they don't do any of the cool work). Having one very early still juices your productivity

I worked at a company that was highly dependent on us-east at the time. We survived. This is very different

10x engineers are real. Start-up geniuses are real. The large majority of people have their heads up their asses. Wake up and smell the coffee

A couple in their early 30's just meet up after getting home from work. The wife, nervous, approaches her husband and says, "I have something to tell you". She pauses, taking in the moment, and him. "I'm pregnant&qu

The problem is that too many people want a life in academia, heavily insulated from the outside world Just like school teachers in America, PhD students are taken advantage of for the exact same reasons People want the jobs, and America doe

Banal is a pretty negative connotation for activities that I think are pretty core to human happiness Some of the unhappiest people I know obsess over optimizing every second to be productive

Agreed, it's not really a valid excuse. Hopefully a scheduler re-write comes along soon to alleviate those concerns. I absolutely share them; I can't read any of that code anymore

You wish we went back to bind and apply? And not being able to trace logic, state, and DOM through a labyrinth of Backbone views? We have come so far How is static typing "mental laziness"?

But they needed Fiber to make AsyncMode possible And once it's well baked enough, it works very cleanly with universal rendering strategies. It means you don't have to separate logic into components where it doesn't belong be

There's already so much magic going on in React's code base. For Fiber, they put the stack in the heap so they could go around the JavaScript call stack and schedule work as they see fit The real magic is in traversal APIs, like C
