>"Partially agreeing" while baselessly denying the central point is what exactly in your book? It means partially agreeing, and quite respectfully, I might add. You, however, were only *dis*respectful, downright rude in fact. &

You know, people would be more receptive to you if you wouldn't talk down on them. I mean, for gods' sakes, parent specifically partially agreed with you(!) and yet you *still* talked down to them.

It's not about the company; it's about the technology. Whether a Flock-branded camera or not, ALPRs as a technology is *dangerous*. From deflock.org itself: > Flock is not the only ALPR vendor, and other vendors still participa

Exactly. I work in retail and we have ONE guaranteed day off each year: Christmas Day. (And a lot of retail employees don't have even this!) And until recently, I never got holiday pay either.

I work in the US service industry (retail), and until recently I didn't have sick time at all. The only reason I do now is because I'm a part of a union (very rare for retail workers) and they argued for sick time. And it's a

Fun Fact: Most, if not all, YouTube channels automatically have an RSS feed. That's what I use to follow channels I like. No Google account necessary.

Just as an aside, I suspect the last line had an implied "/s". If so, I think they really should have included it.

I genuinely can't tell if you're joking, though I'd like to believe you are...

by encrypted_bird 2mo ago
That is extremely unfortunate. :( The day I can no longer use Old Reddit is the day I stop using Reddit.

I don't get even a single ad on that TV Tropes page. Do you not use an adblocker?

by encrypted_bird 3mo ago
You can do it without logging in too if you use an extension that autoredirects. That's what I do. I use a FF extension called Old Reddit Redirect.

Oh. Hey, thanks y'all for explaining it to me. :)

So what you're saying is I have it backward. In the summer, without DST, the sun would rise like an hour earlier than with DST. Is that correct?
48.
by encrypted_bird 3mo ago
Something I genuinely don't understand: everyone is saying that with DST, the sun rises later in the day. But as someone who doesn't work first shift and regularly goes to bed anytime between 04:00 and 06:00, I can tell you with c

It's not an excuse. Many of us saw this coming as far back as 2016, and tried every step of the way to fight against Trump's rise to power. We are not all monsters. It's as simple as that.

by encrypted_bird 3mo ago
You know, not all of us wished for him. Many of us not only saw all this coming from a mile away, but also fought against it every step of the way. I would not say have pity for everyone, but at least have pity for those incompatible with

by encrypted_bird 3mo ago
Haha, no way is the store I'm talking about ever hiring a security guard. Corporate doesn't give them enough money to hire enough people, let alone a security guard.

by encrypted_bird 3mo ago
One thing that happens a LOT in retail is, say if a store closes at 10pm, a customer will walk in at 9:58pm, be there for 30 min to an hour, and employees HAVE to stay until they leave and cannot kick them out. If they do, they can get writ

Of course! It's fantastic. I went from Plex --> Emby --> Jellyfin and honestly if I could have afforded it I would have purchased the 100 USD lifetime license. They work really hard and deserve the money.
56.
by encrypted_bird 3mo ago
If you're not experienced in media servers, I'd recommend a QNAP NAS and then install either Jellyfin or Emby. (Plex has really gone downhill in the last 10 years imho.) QNAP is terrible for experienced users, but as Baby's F

Exactly. A lot of these people forget that they will be old too someday. Treat the elderly like shit now, you'll be treated like shit later. (Also, I love the Half-Life reference in your username btw. ;) )
