While I think there is a certain moral bankruptcy in the individuals for looking out for themselves over the employees writ large, I think in this particular case the board is certainly culpable for allowing these types of shenanigans to ta

This was oddly satisfying and I voted on a bunch of colors. Definitely a bias towards my personal preferences and also what I think would be useable for websites but fun idea! Will be great to see the resulting data.

I agree, current management is pretty bad. I can easily envision a world where it is well-run and with less grift where your California ID essentially unlocks a slew of services like healthcare and university access. Like i said before, thi

Sometimes I feel like this is the endgame where the US overall kind of declines but California starts managing itself better and operates almost like an independent country. Probably wishful thinking but would be great.

I tried this with my site and I am pretty impressed with the results. We will likely use this to update our visualizations and hopefully make them more accessible for folks with disabilities! Thanks for this, great writeup!

The part that resonated with me is the ageism and general suspicion (by your potentially younger boss) of those with families and responsibilities. Startups tend to expect you to put everything you have into work, but for some folks that&#x

A more egalitarian Uber/DoorDash/Lyft/etc. where all players in the market benefit and the company solely exists to provide value lives rent free in my head. In the practical reality however, the idea seems somewhat intractab

Great idea for a product. Glad this exists! If anything, you guys should be charging more for this service!

CLRS algorithms book changed the game for me. Dense and at times difficult to read but incredibly thorough and no hand waving whatsoever. Brought rigor to my approach and helped me clean up the way I think about some things.

As a solo developer, running a small instance yourself and just SSH’ing in or writing a few simple scripts to deploy is probably more worthwhile. You have to deal with the “headache” of setup but at least you know what’s going on underneath

I think the operative difference here is, it requires a trained and licensed physician to perform an abortion. Anyone can take an 80% lower receiver and make one into an AR-15 in their garage with just a couple of YouTube videos to guide th

I wonder how route profitability comes into play with those airlines running older planes (old 737's, etc) that may break more frequently. AOG (airplane on ground) is essentially a broken plane stuck at a gate getting fined massively b

My own experience with this as a bootstrapper has been: in the beginning, code up the product, even if it's not the best, get something that works. once the product is in a usable state enough to gain revenue, use the cash to get more

The outliers are pretty tough to get significant data for. Also my sense is startups tend to pay towards the 50-75th percentile of radford (read: not great) cash comp and balance with equity lotto tickets that the author values at zero. Whi
