Saying it's a Heroku dyno is disingenuous by the poster. (Article itself doesn't mention Heroku). Heroku can run things other than Rails.

I grew up in West Virginia. I also was pretty involved in the computer operation at my high school. The "head" of IT was a math teacher they suckered into doing all the work. Anyhow. I remember when they decided they needed a domain server.

The most annoying job posts (anywhere, not just on HN) to me are the ones that fail to say what your company will do for me. It is a very tight market for talent right now, at least tell me your benefits. A job is a relationship, Tell me wh

Then you obviously think this conference isn't for you. Too bad you can't just accept that, not by a ticket, and leave the judgement at home.

Heh. I think it's funny that you think $300 is a lot. I'm in the mid-west and $300 is still not a lot for a one-day conference.

Very much so. I moved my family to the outskirts of Chicagoland so we'd be really close to my kids grandma. Great choice. Even though I technically can commute into Chicago everyday, the 1:15 trip can wear me down. So even though I'm in "Ch

There are people out their who through their own greed destroyed the economy. They will not be prosecuted. Hell, no one will even give them a talking to. Threaten someone's profit model, and you go to prison though.

Even more so. The majority of my work is in organizations. Before it was difficult to see what I was doing. Unless someone is really interested in my emacs settings.

Could you list out or elaborate on the other packaging projects being developed? I'm very interested in getting involved with Python packaging. Thanks.

You're just trading those problems for the problems of viruses and 8 IE toolbars. I don't know why someone would go from Ubuntu to Windows. I can easily see going to Mac, or a tablet.
