This is a completely different thing than Scribd. Scribd is a document uploading and management service that converts .pdfs, .docs, .xls, everything under the sun. This is an extremely nice way to view PDFs linked to from google search and

Remember, almost all companies start as startups. For example, startups get to claim Ford, inventing the assembly line. Of course, the potential for work in a research lab is huge too. So I think it's more about the specific opportunities.

Charge money. Market it to businesses. You're never going to get money out of something like that from advertising, so you have to go the service route. If you charged $5/user/month, you might have a nice little supplement to your income. D

The main point is there needs to be a big fat "Create a community" button on the front page, even if that leads you to a "First, create an account" screen.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but your argument seems to be: - I don't really understand this whole "global warming" thing. - Even climatologists, who do claim to at least understand global warming, don't have complete understanding of or master

"The evidence that cancer exists is pretty conclusive. The evidence that the climate is changing in an unusual way isn't." I don't agree with that statement, but it's a valid argument for a climate skeptic. "The scientists are just trying t

The main point about global warming is that it is rapid . Rapid climate change (in either direction) is bad for the obvious reason that we don't have much time to adjust. In general, a warmer climate is good for us. We're at a geological-h

I agree with you, but "Your position is irrational and stupid" is abusive, and likely to cause people to believe that you are in the wrong. Which is unfortunate, because in this instance you are right.

By that logic, cancer is a myth. Do you have any idea how many careers hinge on trying to cure cancer? It's a scientific conspiracy! They have to keep the cancer gravy train going.

Your analogy is close, but flawed. Instead, I suggest the following as an analogy for your argument: Al Gore is arguing for an across the board tax increase. He thinks that everyone should pay more taxes. On the other hand, he's not donatin

Why is BB(100) "impossible in principle", where we know BB(1), BB(2), and BB(3)? How is BB(100) different, besides size?

You are Not Even Wrong, in this instance. Math is not a simulation of the real world; to take a simple example, both Euclidean and hyperbolic geometry are self-consistent and useful, and yet clearly different. So "the rock solid foundation"
