Unfortunately the constraints it sets make community fiber projects much less attractive. Should communities be forbidden from building out water mains or roads, because they might compete with the private version? It's not clear to me that

Effectively makes it illegal, as far as I can tell, for a community to decide that internet access is similar to roads or water infrastructure and make it broadly available at low rates. It depends if you think internet access should be tre

You can be hugely successful without YC investment (or any investor). No one seriously thinks YC is necessary - nor do I understand why you'd think Martin thinks that. However, the question is whether YC can help or not. Could the Google

I did read the post. The guideline is specifically about situations like this one. You should not describe your company in relation to YC unless you are actually affiliated with YC. Being rejected is not an affiliation. Neither is being a

Being accepted as a poster in a conference is a very different thing from being published in a journal, as the comments on the article you posted point out.

In the end, isn't that the only thing you can say? Maybe you can prove something about how secure a service is, but you definitely can't prove you'll respect people's privacy. All you can do is to respect them, and ask for trust.

It applies a bunch of lessons we learned making a live video broadcasting app for Justin.tv. The distance is not so large as you'd think (minus the whole "not live" part).

I'm not sure why you'd think it doesn't record audio, it definitely does. You can't preview a video before upload yet, but it's in the pipeline.

You are never forced to share a video on Facebook through SocialCam. We ask for the permissions so that it's one-click to share, not so that it will autoshare every time. Trust me, we use the app all the time and none of us would want it to

Biggest advantage: you can tag your friends from the SocialCam app and you can't from the YouTube app.

My circle of friends had started using Beluga recently, and it's really so much more than the sum of its parts. I hope Facebook doesn't kill it or break what's great about it.

Some of the companies with "unknown" status are definitely no longer running. From the first batch: - Half of MemAmp was merged into reddit and half went back to gradschool. - Simmery shut down after the summer - Firecrawl shut down after t

Mandalay bay does not have 100% occupancy 365 days per year. They probably don't even have 50% occupancy 365 days per year. But yes, it's about the size of a VERY large hotel.

Technically, we didn't sell the assets. The company sold the assets (income), then distributed the resulting cash to shareholders (capital gains). So the money got taxed twice, once for corporate income tax and once as capital gains.
