Last time I tried to parse .docx it was full of opaque binary blobs, it might be a zip but parsing the data is like summoning arcane magic. It might have changed in the last decade, but considering the Microsoft has no incitement to make th

I wanted concrete examples, I see I could have been clearer on that point but I did not intend malice or to brag. I memorize because of diabetes. You need to know how much sugar you eat so you do volume -> weight * carbs/weight * po

I do not understand how a voice assistant help with this, it has never worked for me. Seems like pretty hard things to do on the fly with recipes. Weight to volume conversions are rare here but sure I do those on the fly so I guess it makes

That is probably it, never would have occurred to me. When doing international recipes doing a translation/conversion is not always straight forward. I cook a lot and often it becomes a investigation into the ingredients and what to r

Because of how infrastructure is built you experience bicycles a lot closer and therefore they might feel more dangerous than cars. When you stop to think of it it is not strange, but when it comes to bicycles there is always someone who fo

How does one need unit conversion while cooking? Sometimes I need how many grams is 1 dl of flour/oats (60g/35g) but I memorized that the second time, maybe if you are doing larger portions.

Interestingly pedestrians accidents go down when bike paths were installed on streets in NYC. Bike paths are closer and have less protection for pedestrians than car lanes so it is interesting that bicycles make it so much safer to be a ped

To be compatible and be able to use all the Pi Hats would be nice but my point is that I am not sure a RP2040 can replace the Pi and be called "compatible". You can do a lot with an MC on the board that is true.

I am pretty sure RP2040 is not compatible with the Raspberry pi boards, so it will not be enough to replace Raspberry PI.

In the schematic on Radxas site[1] there is no connection between the RP2040 and the power circuit, I would love to be able to shutdown the Intel chip from the Raspberry Pi microchip. Seems far fetched that it would be hackable if this is n

I am not a PHP developer, and our php code is all third party apps. Do you have any write ups on PHP tooling? My feeling is that php tooling has a hard time handling stateless images, you often need to install plugins to php applications w

There are now many alternatives, looking at office culture today there is really no need for Windows anymore. Many even do their job a lot better with a tablet and a keyboard. The big problem is IT. Zealots that has to use Microsoft/Li

That argument can be made everywhere even with perfect public transport. It is usually about choices you have made. Of course in the US it is far too easy to become car dependent. If you wish it, it is most certainly possible but you have p

If you use your railways for passenger trains it is quite common to reroute the railways around towns to get higher speeds. Which has drawbacks and advantages. As a tourist I do not like it.

I've used plenty of java cli tools for batch processes that takes ages to run, having something launch fast or run interactively is a different story. No hate on java the jvm is just not that fast launching.

Using a linter is a good idea. It's not command substitution but the contentes in $variables will be expanded and splitted so you need to quote them or the newlines will get lost. $ touch asdd $ foo=$(echo -e '\n\nboop\n*dd\

I think we all understand why Google might have a need to sign the binaries themselves. The point is that if they are creating binaries it should be signed by Google using a key uploaded by me it is just unnecessary.
