Checkout the Asus Zenbook Prime (UX31A). I've been backpacking + programming for the last 8 month with it and it's absolutely perfect. Best laptop I ever owned. I run Ubuntu on it without any problems.

We do stay for a long time at the table. At lunch it's usually 1 hour (even at work) and it can be much longer in the evening, 2 or more hours maybe if we're at a restaurant. When I'm at my parent's house, it's never less than an hour. Fren
