My group developed the latest, fastest NoSQL system on the scene ( http://hyperdex.org ), one that provides ACID transactions as well as a ton of other exciting features like scalability, consistency and fault-tolerance. Yet when someone as

:-) Maybe. Let's not forget the part where the new thing, with its limber, simpler architecture completely displaces the old klunker, and provides an extensible, easily customized platform to its users.

Absolutely spot on. But there is no reason why the translation from the user's query into a series of data accesses cannot happen in the front end. In many ways, NoSQL is a reaction to the poor job RDBMSs were doing in the front end. Everyo

I'm the "radical" author of this post. It expands this other post ( http://hackingdistributed.com/2013/03/07/partition-tolerance... ) that busts some commonly propagated myths about partition tolerance in data stores. But the part that I re

I just noticed that this work got linked from HN today. This is my PhD student Alan Shieh's work, jointly with my colleague Andrew Myers. I'm surprised to see it here, as we did the work back in '05 or so. But it was a lot of fun and I thin

I not only read but quoted the manual, in parts of the article that you evidently skipped. I also described why SAFE and FSYNC_SAFE, aren't. I also described why getLastError doesn't work when pipelined or multithreaded. It's hard writing

The blog is new, and we had a redirection loop in the Nginx configuration that took the site down for a while. Should be fixed now.
