When I was on my first business trip at 18, I couldn't check into a hotel in Michigan by myself. I had to call me contact at (then) DaimlerChrysler to meet me for check in. I had a credit card that could buy a brand new car, but I coul

I didn't watch this talk, but I had a blast fuzzing CAN messages to various ECUs when I was in that business. I would be very easily convinced that RCE and memory overwriting (aka "recalibration") were trivially achievable ar

I never had a lot of hits for Clojure in Chicago, but the candidates were above average. I've made 2 hires over 5 years and a small handful of posts.

Sample size 1 here. I used an iPhoneX for a few months this year. It was my first iPhone, and I loathed the browser lock-in and the lack of automatic contacts sync. The UX is far less consistent than modern Android apps (e.g. the back funct

As someone who doesn't write a ton of CLOS-using CL, but does write CL, Shen, and professional Clojure I don't see the limitations in python very clearly. It's a language that is data oriented but not homoiconic. It has facil

If by lispy you mean data oriented code with functions instead of classes and composition, I'd argue that it's not only pythonic, but import this compliant.

When your IDE (or Emacs in this case) offers go jumping/searching functionality, it doesn't really matter how many files your code is in. When I used bare vim, I cared a lot more about code organization than I do with an IDE that

We abstracted JSONB operations into the Clojure Query AST library HoneySQL and never really looked back. It was something one person on the team learned thoroughly for a half day and promptly forgot about. Now we say things like: (jso

You could do this multiple times in the same top-level template if you're a masochist. Just use jinja2's set command to setup local variables in the template. You can do awfully complicated logic in jinja2, it's just that alm

The following would be trivial to build in jinja2: {{ merge(foo, bar)|tojson|safe }} Even something polymorphic to render a template, then merge into a known dict, then output json would be easy. A signature that might look like:

This is the lesson I've learned in Clojure. We have varying levels of data shape specification, contracts, and static type checking available a-la-carte when you want it but not getting in your way when you don't.
