That has been my assumption. Part of the family had also already had COVID. They said this was much worse than COVID, which I would assume is because we are all vaccinated and it was most likely the milder Omnicron variant. Not skipping the

This is why I tend to hop between jobs with people I know already. You get to skip all the hassle. Since I’m senior enough to have that option, the companies who make you solve stupid puzzles in real-time will simply never attract me. To me

Our entire family was sick and it crushed us for 2-3 weeks. This description sounds like it applies to us too. I take anxiety medicine and it’s like it completely stopped working. Yet none of us tested positive for COVID. I don’t know what

Which begs the question, why not bank on the current reality where some jobs favor women and some favor men, due to conscious personal choices made by those men and women?

The funny thing is you basically just revealed the same info in text form. Unless you’re actually 27 and this was all an elaborate misdirection. Blink twice if you’re 27.

This is my garbage account where I post stupid embarrassing things. For real stuff I use another one. I’d hope this is typical but I’m afraid lots of people are leaving long trails linked directly to their real identity.

Conan can be pretty bad as well. Anytime he’s pressed he falls precisely in line with far left views and goes to great lengths to avoid the slightest controversy.

Where “wrong” person means “doesn’t want to subject themselves to a ridiculous amount of submissive hoop jumping” — which excludes a tremendous amount of the best possible hires. They want cogs for the machine.

I mean. It was a statement of fact, you can believe it or not. The engineers I know who went into FAANG (half dozen different people) are literally the worst engineers I worked with. They have no scruples and play politics.

I know a ton of engineers. Of them all, those working FAANG are profoundly less skilled than the others. It’s impossible to miss its so obvious. Maybe my social network is an outlier, but I really really doubt it.

Well I was in the ER 2 days ago and my liver enzymes were bad. I don’t drink, he said it was the acetaminophen I’ve been taking. I had been taking significantly less than the recommended amount for less than a week.

No matter how grey this comment is, it’s still true. This is statistically far far more likely to be bullshit than face value racism.

I would be interested to know more details, for example where are locks held (or is it all interlocked ops / CAS?). I’d assume the scheduler uses lockfree algorithms.

Can we just flag those scams and move on now? Why does HN allow so much clear spam if it happens to have the word blockchain involved?

I felt it was part of my real life. But after leaving the first company (then each subsequent company) I almost never saw any of them again. People put on a polite friendly face at work, but that doesn’t mean they’re your intimate friends.

So if an American moved to Japan and was suggested to learn basic Japanese, it would be ludicrous and typically Japan-centric? They have a few customs as well, are those all ludicrous and typically Japan-focused?

You can’t fix Mozilla without chopping heads off the top. They aren’t authentic actors in the game they’ve presented on this HN link. They are activists who commandeered a vehicle.
