One of the things that I loved about Toastmasters is that they designated someone to be the "um grammarian." Their job was to count how many times you used filler words or unnecessary pauses. Very frustrating at first, but damn it really ma

Fact, strangely, is loaded. Romney brought up Tesla as a negative investment in green energy. Obama holds them, or what they're doing, as an archetype of the new "American way" forward (even though they aren't breaking auto sales records).

Here is the hacker news opportunity: build a real-time fact checker for this type of claim. Remember Popup Video on VH1? Something like that.

MooTools has always aimed to be compliant with the next version of Ecma. In a lot of ways it is a shim for whatever is next.

I hate when people choose a standard that has cases where it shouldn't be followed. See the return semicolon injection JS bug/feature. I roll with BSD KNF across all of my brace-based langs.

After the "death" of webos, I watched the developers videos and wondered why the whole web community wasnt building apps. The dev tools seemed to be everything that the common web dev wanted.

As a non-California resident, Jerry Brown seems to be doing a pretty impressive job. He seems to talk about the real issues, especially when Cali's budget, and puts good legislation through.

Yeah but that would die out eventually, like your laptop. These newer cars with sophisticated systems probably do something like you're talking about. My macbook will write the contents of ram to the hard drive once the battery dies and loa

Classic case of a developer putting a backdoor in (for testing) and forgetting to take it out. I'm curious as to how long it will take to patch it and if there will be any fallout over this (they are the number 1 phone producer in the world

It has always been a dream of mine to get desktop-like computing wherever I am; in the car, in a phone, on a bike, all sorts of craziness. The biggest drawback that I've always come up with is boot up and shut down times and when boot up an
