"Easier than pandas" is the most important consideration for right now! If pandas is "Jira", I consider redframes to be "Trello" (appropriate for most, but not all use cases). I actually was inspired to build t

Another thing to consider: the Python community is historically really bad at updating to the "latest and greatest". This [1] resource suggests that 80% of Python versions in the wild are Python 3.6-3.8!! [1] https://w3

I think this site is specifically keying in on the "Programming Language :: Python :: 3.11" PyPI classifier... While many packages haven't been updated to include this classifier, if you were to run all of the unit tests for

Statistical Rethinking is probably the best textbook that I've ever read. It basically jumped started my career in data!

I love Markov chains! But, I too don't like "terminology, notation, and style of writing in statistics"... so, I built a simple "Rosetta Stone" (Python <> Swift) library implementation of Markov chains here:

I'm dog-fooding my new Python data manipulation library, redframes: https://github.com/maxhumber/redframes To help me prep for my Fantasy Hockey Draft next week!

Both are attempts at solving the same problem. But whereas pyjanitor is like "lipstick on a pig" (it's still a pig), redframes is like "pigs in a blanket" (hides more of the warts)...

I think that lexica.art has the prompt search space mostly cornered now, but I think there might be room for a tool that aggregates various styles together (greg rutkowski, van gogh, roy lichenstien, etc etc) and shows their overall popular

Hi HN, redframes is a new data manipulation library specifically designed for ML/vis workflows. I built the library to solve/address some of the things that I perennially find frustrating about pandas, namely: - inconsistent synta

I find in super frustrating when a language doesn’t put a representative view of it’s syntax front and center in the README… (as a QuickStart or something)!

I think this is only true for a language like Python, or TypeScript, where types are second class citizens… For me, using types in Swift is sort of like “NOS” in that it’s helped me go faster (and further”!

This is a horribly misguided take. According to the latest S/O Developer Survey [1], Swift is used by 4.91% of respondents, while Objective-C is only used by 2.39%. Additionally, Swift is loved, and wanted by 62.88% and 4.3% of respond
