TVs usually have lower requirements regarding frame rate and latency compared to computer monitors. That's probably also a factor.

The life story recipes are the worst. Personally, I like a shitty 1min hand-drawn stick figure a thousand times more than a generated image. But I'm probably a minority here. You're right, it's not what Google and SEO incenti

I've no doubt things like this will continue to happen. Trump, Musk and co will not stop on their own transforming the US into an authoritarian and likely fascist state. It's now up to the people of the US to stand up and save the

But companies are legal entities, they can buy, sell and own stuff. They aren't just a collection of people. They can make profit, some huge amounts, and they should pay taxes for that.

Kinda understandable, but as a consumer, I already dislike that a lot. In the beginning, AI 'art' was novel and interesting in a way. But now I've already seen so much generic illustrations, and in 95% they don't add any

Thanks for the clarification. That makes more sense now. I host my own GoToSocial instance, with only me as it's single user. Doesn't get much more decentralized than that. I guess it's easier to move your identity to a diffe

In my experience, Mastodon clients handle large posts (say 5000 chars instead of 500) very well. > In a decentralized application, such as Bluesky, as opposed to Mastodon, I can see a future where it would be a replacement for Reddit and

I agree. I'm a big fan of the Fediverse and I think it's really cool to have something like TikTok, but without a good algorithm (that needs a lot of data), I don't see Loops to be a viable alternative for 99% of TikTok use

Loops uses ActivityPub and the Fediverse as it's decentralization model (it's created by dansup, the dev of Pixelfed). The implementaion details, i.e. what's federated and how, are probably still fleshed out. It's the fi

I checked the requirements and automatic updates are supported from F-Droid 1.19 and Android 12. However it sounds like you may have a different issue.

These days even automatic updates are working. But I agree the UI of the official app (there are others) isn't amazing.

Agreed. I also think that being an autocratic leader makes it worse, because you get used to yes-sayers around you and the power in general.

Not really sure about calligraphy specifically, but since western languages are written left to right, it's always harder as a left-handed person. Because you have to push instead of pulling, where the latter makes fluid shapes easier.

Grayjay allows you to view member (pay only) content if you log in with an account that has access. That allows creators to monetize their content. I'm glad Grayjay includes an adblocker, I wouldn't use it otherwise.
