Yes, I would normally write it as LD/Gifted, or "Twice Exceptional" but I changed the order to fit with the conversation. I was extremely lucky and privileged to go to school that catered to LD and LD/Gifted students. Sa

The biggest difference/issue is that podman doesn't provide a daemon of events on its own. It's docker-compose compatibility is tied up in essentially re-implementing/emulating that, which partially defeats the purpose.

Just out of curiosity, did you live in the Philadelphia area? I knew a 13 year old going to a local college in Bryn Mawr/Haverford, but I don't think he was attending either of those prestigious colleges. I don't recall his n

This looks potentially very interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing. How tied is it to the Docker daemon? Instead of Docker, could one use podman, which doesn't need root.

I think this depends on the age of the child and on the child themselves. Scratch is what they teach him in school, so that's what he knows. Scratch is also a real programming language- it presents differently visually, but the concept

Good on you for that. This is my nephew, so I don't have a lot of control. My wife learned English around your daughter's age and she's at native level. Nonetheless, human languages are a barrier :)

I think there's a huge difference between a 14 year old and an 8 year old. Also there's a bit of cultural assumption going on here. Based on the amount of comments, the poster's child is probably a native English speaker. My

May I suggest that instead of Python, if the aim is for children, you consider a block based language such as Scratch or MakeCode? I have a nephew who is ~8 and is doing absolutely amazing with Scratch in his classroom. He's making lit

There's nothing in the article indicating why he was banned. They say he violated the ToS. He says he didn't. Maybe it was a false positive, but we don't have enough information to know what happened.

I don't know what happened in this situation, but generally refunding money for TOS violations is a bad idea. Let me explain why. Imagine that Alice runs a service where you can send people greeting cards. Bob decides he's going t

Dave doesn't need a private key, the token just needs the ability to be traded. One of the more complex aspects of OCAPy design vs the we do things now is that in a fully ocap world, the token wouldn't just be a string, but possib

What I mean is that if Bob hands his capability to Carol, she can give it to Dave and he can't stop it. I don't see any reason we need keys here.

This is probably the worst part about any kind of payment based system, whether it be money or proof of work- these systems do reflect the disadvantages of the economies of the world. That said, since this problem already exists in the worl

I've said this in another comment but it bears repeating, and perhaps repeating in different ways. Stamps are just tokens, as in bearer tokens. How you get stamps is a different issue. Let me give you a couple of examples how one might

Since I'm explicitly mentioned in the article, let me say a few things: a) I agree email is forked up. b) I think a stamps-like solution could possibly work, but it's not the email part that makes it hard, it's the ecosystem

I (a cis-gendered man) find it interesting how when sensitivity comes up, or the desire for spaces to talk about vulnerability comes up, certain people (often men) treat the suggestion as if it's a personal affront to them. It's s

Yes, 100% it depends on many factors. 100€ euro a month = 1200€ euro a year... Now if a developer can address that in 15 minutes- wonderful, but if it takes her a week... have you won very much, because it's not just the time calculati

I was unaware of that and will update accordingly. I own a Lemur and the power connection was one of my complaints, but that does still mean you can only power it from one side. The XPS13 and the Framework can be powered on either side.
