Did the conversation just go from "smaller is better" to "just use a CI pipeline to do the missing stuff"?

Oracle is all the hate, but when it comes to java, Oracle really got the show rolling again. Prior to Oracle, little happened. After Oracle, a lot is happening.

This does not feel very important to me. Twitter will need to focus on their process, not their people.

Why is a gallon easier than a liter? One desirable property with the SI system is how compatible they are: a cube with 10cm sides is a liter, so it’s easy to imagine the space requirements for a 40 liter tank. A gallon is 231 cubic inches,

I always thought of Iron as the foundation for Rust. But then again, I'm told I like dad-jokes.

That would have been something! I was on a client-provided workstation, and it was the client project manager (!) who played the sound clip on my workstation. I believe this was not their first rodeo, but it was embarrassing as he??. And I

As a consultant, I once did a two-day gig at a client site installing some software on a Sun workstation. It was very unsettling when the "restaurant scene" from "When Harry met Sally" started streaming out from the work

They will use pull requests, but it is a design goal for the process to be somewhat independent of GitHub. For more detailed information, the OpenJDK mailing lists archive is a good source.

On the 747, wouldn’t “top front” be the cockpit? Angled windows for passengers would be bottom front.

Yeah, the same! Flied unaccompanied every other weekend for probably ten years, even before “unaccompanied minor” was a thing. My highlight: At some point, late seventies or early eighties, I got to pull the lever to lower the landing gear!

Somewhat off topic, but a T1 line gave a full one-and-a-half megabit/second. "Back then", this was the second coming. Today I have 600 megabit/second in my apartment...

I’m thinking Feynman is a bit high on himself. He assumes that someone who states that his own work is “humble and down-to-earth” has a low view of yourself. Some Michelin Star chef might ask me what I had for dinner, I’d reply “burgers!”,

Old, white and male — we are probably both plenty entitled. But life is generally favorable to us, so we are often better off listening to those actually affected by this.
