There was, until recently (I'm pretty sure it's gone now), a Ghibli/Miyazaki exhibit at the new AMPAS museum in LA. It was an amazing show. They had many of Miyazaki's original watercolors there and they were so, so good

The "cat" that ate the mouse? If so, a clever reverse dig at Jobs? (it did seem like there was bad blood there)

I love this comment and and am in total agreement. I hope he can use this post as way to clear the air and let it go. I think the 20K was totally fair for the effort put in, but I do sympathize with being so close to a veritable fortune!! I

Absolutely both! (There is no privileged position, as in, everyone is ridiculous, ha!) I love writing like this and laughed while reading. Nice way to start a "do nothing" Saturday. ;)

Average I don't know about, but my commute into Manhattan from Jersey was 2 hours, one way door to door . You have to count driving to the train station and the time it takes to get from the station to the actual office. That said, th

The grass is always greener! :-D I smile because I left commercial art back in the 80's to become a software developer! More power to Laim and I hope it works out well for him, but I have my doubts. Working as a full-time (especially o

I can't say for the newest tablets, but I have an older Intuos 4 running on a Mac Studio and the Ventura installer completely killed the legacy Wacom driver during the install. Thankfully, I uninstalled and reinstalled and everything s

63 year-old career programmer here. I can attest that this list is pretty much a straight line to the place where I am at, with everything just dialed up a 20 year notch (hehe!) I do want to add one more thing to the list: * Find a well-man

Just anecdata, but I have been running with non-pro AirPods for years with no problems like one you describe. I tend to sweat a lot, so by the end of the run they are pretty wet. No shorting or other electrical issues. The only problem I&#x

Yeah, I've used BBEdit for all 30 years and VSCode since it was pretty young. BBEdit is my "i want all of my text files in separate windows" editor. I have it set that way on purpose. I do this mainly for my own spatial organ

Right now I use 2 4K 27" 120hz monitors from Acer (XV273K) and share both with a gaming PC and my Mac 16" laptop in clamshell mode. The Acers have a ton of inputs (2 DP, 2 hdmi) so it's easy to have all hooked up at once at t

A lot of computer history is filled with machines that were obviously a link in a chain between earlier times and later times. They felt "transitional", in a sense. To me, both the Amiga & the original Mac had a "ding an

Back in the late 60's and early 70's (born in late 50s) one of my fondest memories is walking or riding my bike (banana seat, of course!) down to the local 5 & 10 each month to get my copy of Mad Magazine. The fold-in would be
