Because it wasn't always a Dutch speaking part of the country. History happens. And sure, we don't have a French word for Amsterdam, but we do have a Dutch word for Paris (Parijs), obviously not a Dutch speaking city. You're

Because you don't know the place or its history as well as you seem to think you do. Flamingantism is a scourge upon Belgium. Louvain is fine in English. Much like ruuban is the correct form in Japanese. There's a whole article fu

Couldn't agree more. A browser used to be known as a User Agent [1], but most browsers no longer act in the user's best interest, but rather pander to adtech enablers. It is a sad state of affairs. [1] Shameless plug to my rant on

That's very much apples and oranges. One is a biological necessity, while the other is a consequence of surveillance capitalism.

Eclipse is still a great option for Java. And I was pleasantly surprised at Devoxx last month when Oracle's Stuart Marks whipped out ye olde Netbeans for some live coding during a talk. Dev tool monopolies are as bad as any other monop

Given the current political climate, this seems like an odd thing for Congress to spend time on. Is this meant to be a distraction or what's the deal here?

Two remarks: Those bird illustrations are amazing. Both in terms of detail and in terms of preservation. And: how does one die of a congenital foot defect?

I'm not sure what the point of your comment is. Are you surprised that this happened? Is this a value judgement? Would like you discuss the merit of this change? Or are you just being reactonary because someone mentioned the word gende

IIRC illegal access can be locked down and be controlled in a fine grained manner with the add-opens and illegal-access flags on newer JVMs.

In Belgium it's no longer available without prescription since this month. Reasoning is that it can trigger cardiac issues, neurological issues, and even psychiatric issues in some people.

I hope you mean CPAP machines and not machines that give you sleep apnea -_- Sleep apnea sucks. Get tested. Get treated. It's a hassle but it's worth it. I'm typing this just after putting on my mask.

I had ear plugs made to size. I think they were 50-100eur. They're comfortable, easy to clean, and very good at their job. I have a pair for sleeping which blocks out pretty much all noise, and another pair for loud concerts which redu

I first tried to shake the coffee to see if I could make a mess, didn't work. When the mug is empty, the github logo becomes visible and you can click through to the github repo.

Brexit was a special case of stupid. There should never have been a referendum with such a stupid question, devoid of any context or potential impact. Democracy only works when voters are informed.
