Sealioning is not respectful discussion. A respectful person would've taken the burden onto themselves of offering counter-evidence instead of firing off a barrage of obstinate questions.

The problem is further exacerbated by needless complexity being seen as sophistication, and in the end; one's competency level. A lot of today's bloat and bullshit is caused by this attitude. Like a football team full of body bu

To be fair, software discussions in particular are absolutely overflowing with snark, reflexive dismissals, and just general one-upmanship. So I can understand people assuming the worst.

The problem is that it can create a chain-reaction of complexity because it opens up possibilities for over-engineering. In the sense of: "Yes, it's a bit over-engineered, but k8s makes it manageable for us anyway!" - consc

The level of reductionism of that comment is honestly quite amusing given the topic. Maybe we can use it as an unintended warning of not going too far in the pursuit of simplicity.

I don't think one should underestimate the incentives at play here though. Complexity sells not just in literal money, but in career prospects too and so on. It's really bad incentives all around in favor of complexity.

It's a matter of proportionality in power and influence. E.g: Yes, most football fans are likely well meaning folks, but the World Cup is still ending up in absolute monarchies with all excuses under the sun suddenly appearing to defen

Why skip point 1 and do some strange tangent on a SaaS product unrelated to using k8s or not? Most people looking into (and using) k8s that are being told the "you most avoid vendor lock in!" selling point are nowhere near the siz

I don't understand why this "you shouldn't be vendor-locked" rationalization is taken at face value at all? 1. The time it will take to move to another cloud is proportional to the complexity of your app. For example, if

I think some are just pretty sick and tired of the explosion of needless complexity we've seen in the last decade or so in software, and rightly so. This is an industry-wide problem of deeply misaligned incentives (& some amount of
