To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed when I see open source projects adopting closed source platforms. While they can have similar functionality with Matrix, without having to support a Matrix instance.

I wish more people in science and medicine used open source solutions like Matrix (even the riot.im Matrix instance would be nice).

One could say that having an open source alternative based on standards could actually allow for a more fair plainfield for online businesses. To be frank although I use several Google services and products , I try to use opem source altern

Thanks hmm... that indeed sounds legit. Would definitely like to see that. If I have no open source alternative for a connected hardware device that seems to me like the next best thing.

We recently started using Matrix with riot.im seamlessly bridged to our IRC channels. Seems pretty usable for our needs.

I really cringe on statement like this. Since startups are not non-profit organizations I tend to cringe when I hear all this "making the world a better place" mantra. I understand that many startup founders have values and vision

And as a Greek I see that day by day we are taking advantage more and more the data available from EO satellites. You need lots of data to restart the economy.
