I feel like this is a cool idea for a way to visually communicate information that just needs the right application. Seems like it would be a great videogame mechanic (like some sort of hacking or lockpicking minigame)

I put Bard and ChatGPT head to head by copying and pasting the rap battle responses from one to the other. I'm very unimpressed by Bard. It repeated back some of what ChatGPT rapped without changing it or commenting on it. It also fail

Translating sign languages to spoken languages is really, really hard. Sign languages have a lot of features that don't really show up in spoken languages. Let's take an example: the sign for "send email" in ASL ( http:&

Seems like the kind of thing that is great in theory but would end up with a high error rate in practice.

It seems to me that the 0.5% false positive rate makes this unusable for practical purposes (since that would mean that 1 in 200 passengers gets on the wrong bus). How big would the sign need to be to have no false positives?

I'm a hearing person and I've spent a summer interning in a 50/50 mixed Deaf and hearing research group. My take is that this is a huge UI improvement for AI speech to text, which a lot of Deaf people are already using to lis

I wouldn't really call Khan Academy a tech giant. They are a charity. That said, it does not necessarily seem like OpenAI is trying to be fair.

Windchill doesn't effect, and you can handle small dips below -15 F (like for a couple hours at night) because the house has some thermal mass. However, Duluth, MN is right at the edge of being too cold for this heat pump (99th percent

I'd imagine this tool is meant for welding schools who want to be able to do something like: 1) Pull intro classes out of their shop to increase capacity 2) Reduce costs associated with power/gas/metal/etc. 3) Give peopl

A few factors here: 1. You could try to do worse than average, and you'd succeed, but only because of the skewness of individual stock performance. You'd be no better than random chance at picking losers, it'd just be that mo

Sound's like you're opposed to all animal research, not specifically brain-computer interface research. We also don't ask a monkey's consent before doing any other sort of experiment on it.

What I actually mean is that 99.999% stock pickers can't intentionally do better or worse than average. And the tiny fraction who can are fund directors who are flooded with so much capital that they generate sub-1% alphas (which the

I oversimplified this, sorry. You have to pad the plus code so that the segment to the left of the plus has enough characters, and there are a couple other rules: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Location_Code

I'm not an expert in refrigerant selection but you've missed many critical aspects of a refrigerant: we care about viscosity, density, thermal conductivity, etc. because these all impact the energy efficiency of the system.

Patents don't need to be safe. You can patent a transportation device that works by firing a human out of a cannon, or a self driving car that simply runs over pedestrians, or even just a method of killing someone.

In this article, the bank used both voice ID and date of birth to verify identity before a balance check. That seems like a reasonable level of security to me.
