Since you'd like to get reliable results from all over the world, there's hardly any single suitable timing for such a poll. The only hope is for it to stay visible for close to 24 hours.

Racket is good, but I think the discussion here is more about educational implementations - small, simple to grasp. There are of course also a number of industrial-strength implementations of the Scheme language in C and C++, but those are

There are a lot of Scheme implementations floating around the web, in any language you can imagine. I have one of my own (shameless plug: http://code.google.com/p/bobscheme/ ) in Python & C++, and there are many others, at least some o

Even if you disliked the original comment, this one is trying to clarify a joke. Now a serious question - is humor discouraged on HN? Because it's not the first time I run into something like this.

This is a really great and inspiring story, IMO. Shows how modern technology can truly change people's lives. Sure, this kicks some speciality device companies out of the market (like I'm sure was done many times now by smartphone & tab

Sure, but when just seeing the "name and rating" of bidders, this detail isn't directly visible. Many times buyers decide very quickly whom to give the work to, based on a very superficial glance on the ratings, without entering each dev pa

I maintain some tools (mostly open-source) and would like them to work on OS X as well. I run a mixture of Windows and Linux boxes and VMs, and there's no legit way (that I'm aware of) to run OS X inside a VM. Wouldn't this service be good

Valid point, but this concern should be somewhat alleviated by the massiveness of the study. I imagine that in 360,000 people, "pure correlation" should be relatively uniformly-spaced, meaning that there's enough people for all "correlative
